Domestic EV charging grants

Government grants can reduce the cost of installing an EV chargepoint at your home, flat, rental property or residential development. Nexus can help you understand which domestic scheme may apply and build the grant into your installation plan.

Current as of August 2026. The EV chargepoint schemes below have been extended for a final year to 31 March 2027. Grant rates, eligibility, budgets and scheme rules can change, so treat the figures as a guide and check the official GOV.UK source before committing to a project. Nexus can help confirm the relevant scheme as part of your quotation.
At a glance

Which domestic EV grant could apply to you?

The right scheme depends mainly on whether you own or rent the property, whether you live in a flat, who owns the parking space and whether you have off-street parking.

Turn your EV charger into a complete home energy solution

For domestic customers, an EV charger can work particularly well alongside solar panels and battery storage. Nexus can design the charging and wider home energy system together.

  • Assess your EV charging requirements
  • Plan the charger location and electrical connection
  • Consider solar PV and battery storage alongside charging
  • Coordinate charging with your home energy use
  • Build grant assumptions into the project quotation where applicable

"The best EV charging project isn't just about the charger. It's about having the electrical capacity, energy strategy and infrastructure to support it."

How it works

From grant check to installation

01

Tell us about the site

We'll look at the property, parking, number of vehicles and the type of charging you need.

02

Check the scheme

We identify the most relevant current grant and flag any eligibility requirements or exclusions.

03

Design the solution

We scope the chargepoints and supporting electrical infrastructure, with solar and battery options where they make sense.

04

Apply & install

The application route depends on the scheme. Where installer-led claims apply, the approved installer claims the grant on the customer's behalf.

EV grants FAQs

Common questions

How much is the Workplace Charging Scheme worth?

For installations completed from 1 April 2026, eligible workplace customers can receive up to £500 per socket, with a maximum of 40 sockets across all sites per applicant. The grant can cover up to 75% of eligible purchase and installation costs.

Can landlords get help with EV chargers?

Yes. Eligible residential landlords can receive up to £500 per socket and apply for up to 200 sockets per year across their sites, subject to the scheme rules.

Is there an EV charger grant for schools?

Yes. State-funded schools and education institutions can apply for up to £2,000 per socket, with up to 40 sockets across their sites, under the education version of the Workplace Charging Scheme.

Does Nexus apply for the grant?

The application process depends on the scheme. For the Workplace Charging Scheme, the customer applies first and the OZEV-authorised installer claims the grant on the customer's behalf after installation. Other schemes have their own application routes. We'll explain the process for your project before work starts.

Are grants guaranteed?

No. Grants are subject to eligibility, scheme rules and availability. Government guidance can change, so Nexus will not treat a grant as confirmed until the relevant application or voucher has been approved where the scheme requires one.
